Membership Requirements
Please note the following requirements to apply are as follows:
• Agree to abide by AYCA By-Laws and proposed procedures. Applicant must have the reputation of having a strong financial basis, and must be known to adhere to the highest level of business practices, including, but not limited to, the use of escrow accounts for the safekeeping of client's funds.
• Applicant must be a known entity in the yacht charter industry and have knowledge and experience in booking charters in cruising areas worldwide.
• Applicant must be known to consistently maintain the highest ethical standards.
• Maintain such trust or escrow accounts as may be necessary to properly discharge its yacht charter brokerage obligations.
• Maintain a current knowledge of all matters relevant to the profession, including, but not limited to, yacht and crew quality issues, taxes and national, state and local charter laws and regulations.
• Must volunteer on at least one committee
Active Membership
Active Members must be an individual entity who may be organized as a Corporation, limited liability or company or partnership actively engaged in the crewed yacht charter industry as a Yacht Charter Broker or Yacht Charter Manager.
To be an active member, the individual must:
- Be an individual crewed yacht charter broker or manager, with five (5) or most recent consecutive years experience in the crewed yacht charter industry as his/her primary business.
- Promote his/her yacht charter business through advertising.
- Attend two recognized charter shows per calendar year either in person or virtually. Currently accepted shows are St Thomas, Tortola (BVI), Antigua, Nafplion(Greece), Marmaris (Turkey), MYBA (Barcelona), and Newport (Rhode Island), or any MYBA or IBYA organized show.
- Attend two AYCA meetings in a calendar year either in person or virtually.
- Payment of Annual dues $200 per annum
- Three reference names from AYCA or MYBA members. If a Charter Broker applying the referees must be a charter manager with whom you have booked charters in the past two years. If a Charter Manager applying the referees must be a Charter Broker with whom you’ve booked charters in the past two years.
- An active member with 5 years or more charter booking or charter management experience may remain an active member if he or she moves to a role managing crewed charter brokers or charter managers.
Affiliate Membership
- Be an individual crewed yacht charter broker or manager, with three (3) or most recent consecutive years experience in the crewed yacht charter industry as his/her primary business
- Promote his/her yacht charter business through advertising.
- Attend two recognized charter shows per calendar year either in person or virtually. Currently accepted shows are St Thomas, Tortola (BVI), Antigua, Nafplion(Greece), Marmaris (Turkey), MYBA (Barcelona), and Newport (Rhode Island), or any MYBA or IBYA organized show.
- Attend two AYCA meetings in a calendar year either in person or virtually.
- Payment of Annual dues $100 per annum
- Three reference names from AYCA or MYBA members. If a Charter Broker applying the referees must be a charter manager with whom you have booked charters in the past two years. If a Charter Manager applying the referees must be a Charter Broker with whom you’ve booked charters in the past two years.
Once an Affiliate Member has 5 years of experience, they can then upgrade their status to a Full Membership. Note: Affiliate Members do not have full voting rights.
